MCP server
Use Pixelarticons inside Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT
One URL gives your AI assistant live access to the whole catalog. It can search the icons by meaning, read an icon with its SVG source, and it knows the sizing and license rules. Nothing to install on the server side, nothing to sign up for.

} What the assistant can do
The server exposes these tools. Your assistant picks the right one from your prompt.
search_icons { "query": "shopping cart", "free_only": true } Search by keyword. Filter by style, category or free status. Best matches first, then by popularity.
get_icon { "name": "heart", "style": "sharp" } One icon in full: description, keywords, styles, license status, page URL, code snippets and the SVG source for free icons.
list_categories {} The 18 categories with slug, label, icon count and URL.
get_usage_guide {} Install, React and raw SVG usage, sizing rules and how the Pro upgrade works.
search / fetch { "query": "arrow" } The tool pair ChatGPT connectors require. Same data, ChatGPT shaped.
Call it without a client
The endpoint is plain JSON-RPC 2.0 over HTTP. One request, one JSON response.
curl -X POST https://pixelarticons.com/mcp \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"search_icons","arguments":{"query":"heart","free_only":true,"limit":3}}}' Example prompts
- “Find a pixel art icon for "settings" and add it to the sidebar as a React component.”
- “Which free Pixelarticons icons fit a music player: play, pause, next, volume?”
- “Give me the SVG for the heart icon in the sharp style at 48px.”
- “List the Pixelarticons categories and pick five icons for an e-commerce checkout.”
Free and Pro
The server describes every icon, but hands out SVG source for the free set only: 1036 icons (639 names with their style variants) under the MIT license, the same files as in the npm package. For a Pro icon the assistant gets the page URL and the way to unlock it in your project.
npx pixelarticons upgrade --key=YOUR_LICENSE_KEY After the upgrade the Pro icons resolve from the same imports as the free ones. A license is a one-time payment, no subscription.
Limits
- 60 requests per 60 seconds per IP address.
- Up to 100 results per search. Use the offset argument for more.
- Stateless: no session, no stored prompts, no account. Requests are not logged beyond standard server logs.
- Also available as REST: openapi.json, or as agent instructions at /ai.
